Product Detail
The defining feature of the Shell Chair/Sun Chair is its three-dimensional curved form—a concave seat surface with gently flared sides that cradle the body like a seashell. This design imposes two core material requirements: bendability + structural integrity after shaping.
Core Layer: Eucalyptus (Structural Frame)
Material: 5-7 year fast-growing eucalyptus rotary-cut veneer, solid eucalyptus core with no fillers.
Function: Provides core bending strength, ensuring the curved surface remains stable without sagging or springing back during prolonged use.
Balancing Layer: Poplar (Curve Stabilization Layer)
Material: Poplar rotary-cut veneer, featuring uniform texture and fine grain.
Function: Covering both sides of the eucalyptus core layer, it leverages poplar's superior bendability to enable precise molding to curved surfaces during hot pressing. Simultaneously, it counteracts internal stresses to prevent springback after demolding.
